SUNDAY - August 23rd - Join the people behind the Way of the Bboy for a special night honoring the young dancers of Seattle. The event is FREE, all-ages and after the screening we will crown an open cipher “MVP” who will win a crisp, $100 bill.

Our friends at Vera Project will then set-up a live broadcast of Massive Monkees on MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew at 9 pm. By the end of the show we’ll be texting ’til our thumbs fall off to get MM Crew moving on to next week.

Seattle Summer Outdoor Screening

In celebration of Massive Monkees invitation to the hit MTV show America’s Best Dance Crew, we are doing a special presentation outdoors in the Seattle sun.

The film will be projected on to a huge wall outside Havana Social Club on Pike St. Its is 21+ w/ID and seating will be provided. Check back for details about the All-Ages screening at Vera Project in August in association with the Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs.

NY International Indie Film Fest Award Winner

The Way of the Bboy has been announced as the winner of the Best Music Documentary for 2009. We are delighted to accept this honor from a film festival making serious power moves up the ladder of prestige in the film & video industry.

On July 30th in Los Angeles - Jeromeskee will receive the hardware and speak on behalf of the film. It is an unexpected surprise because Way of the Bboy does not fit into typical film festival categories. We did not anticipate seeking the festival circuit, but the recognition is righteous

Bobbito Garcia post on Bounce Magazine

One of our most vocal supporters from the time Way of the Bboy came out, is Bobbito Garcia. Decorated DJ, Sneaker encyclopedia, Pro Basketball Player, Hip-Hop Historian, Journalist… and we’re out of breath.

We tried to get him in the film, and he said he was down but deferred because he felt there were more relevant subjects to interview. Then he helped us set-up the meetings. We are extremely grateful and check out his recent post on Bounce Magazine about Way of the Bboy being featured on MTV.

Way of the Bboy is airing in one-minute installments on MTV2 this month. As part of Sucker Free Hip-Hop Classic Week, you can see Jeromeskee, FeverOne and the Massive Monkees on traditional broadcast nationwide.

Between May 1st and 3rd FeverOne joined Jeromeskee north of the border in Seattle’s sister VanCity.

Lil Lep - Extended Director’s Cut

It was obvious as soon as the interview wrapped-up. We had enough Lil Lep classic lines to make a separate documentary just on him. His style and delivery is as clever as a comedian. He may not be the household name that Ken Swift or Crazy Legs is, but for a period of two years he was unbeaten, untied and undisputed champion.

Michael Holman’s Dance Moves

Graffiti Rock creator and hip-hop pioneer Michael Holman explains how he went from a Wall Street investment banker to a cultural impresario.

His interest in dance, and participation in the club scene from Los Angeles to San Francisco to NYC, has bestowed him with a lot of material. These moves aren’t quite as difficult as Way of the Bboy’s tutorial lessons. Give them a try. They were the hit in the 70s and 80s.

Israel Screening & Workshop

Jeromeskee travels constantly. The Way of the Bboy came out in October, and at classes around the world he uses the film as a teaching tool. The movement is real. The commitment is total. This is Jeromeskee’s profession, he doesn’t have a side job.

One such trip was to Israel where the bboys praised the teachings as “focused on building the scene through attention to detail.”

Brooklyn Bridge

We needed some key visuals of Jeromeskee and FeverOne doing the runs from the tutorial. It was cold as Uzbekistan and the slats on the bridge were not an even surface for breakin’.

The guys had to wear baseball batting gloves to pull it off, fortunately FeverOne had his own customized Franklin gloves that he altered to read “Fever,” using only a marker.

Lil Lep switched out of his Timberland Boots and gave us a Bronx-Rock demo. It was only about a minute and while music was playing it was apparent that Lep was dancing to his own beat. The years have worn on Lep, but he was in fine form on this day. His interview was so priceless that the entire thing is being cut as a DVD extra for future Way of the Bboy pressings.
